  • Primary databases and storage are hosted on Microsoft Azure (including database and object storage).

  • Your chats are stored in our databases. Uploaded content (images/PDFs/notes) may be stored in object storage. Certain artifacts such as score reports may also be stored as files in object storage.

5) How we use data

We use data to:

  1. Provide the Service: authenticate you, deliver AI answers, generate quizzes/flashcards/revision plans, and maintain your learning progress.

  2. Improve quality and safety: debug issues, prevent abuse, secure the platform, and monitor performance.

  3. Personalize learning: adapt experiences based on class, preferences, and activity signals.

  4. Run experiments/A-B tests: to improve product effectiveness, reliability, and learning outcomes.

  5. Communications: send service messages (e.g., OTPs, critical product updates) and, if applicable, send product updates/marketing via email/SMS/WhatsApp as described in Section 10.

  6. Model improvement and training (future): we may use user chats and uploads (including images and PDFs) to improve our models and systems, including fine-tuning or training, subject to safeguards and opt-out options described below.

6) Legal basis / permitted grounds (India)

We process personal data primarily to provide the Service you request. Under India’s DPDP Act, processing may occur based on consent and certain “legitimate uses,” including where you voluntarily provide data for a specified purpose and have not indicated you do not consent for that purpose.

Where consent is required, DPDP expects consent to be free, specific, informed, and affirmative and gives users the right to withdraw consent.

7) AI models, vendors, and modular provider usage

Angira uses third-party AI model providers to generate responses (currently OpenAI; we may also run trials with other providers such as Google, Grok, DeepSeek, etc.). This means:

  • Your prompts and relevant context may be transmitted to these providers to generate responses.

  • We may switch providers, run A/B tests across providers, and update our systems over time.

We will update our Subprocessors / Model Providers list and this Privacy Policy when material changes occur.

8) Institute / coaching analytics (future B2B pilots)

When you use Angira through an institute/coaching program (or if your account is linked to an institute tenant in the future), institute admins may be able to view aggregate and student-level analytics, such as:

  • scores, time spent, topics/chapters covered, weekly activity, attendance-type signals, and performance trends.

Important:

  • Institute admins will not be given access to your chat transcripts under our intended design.

  • You should assume student-level analytics may still be identifiable to the institute (we are not promising robust anti-reidentification controls at launch).

9) Who can access your content inside Angira

We do not routinely read chat transcripts or review uploads. However, limited access may occur when necessary to:

  • provide support you request,

  • investigate abuse/security issues,

  • comply with law, or

  • maintain platform integrity.

Access is restricted to authorized personnel and controlled through internal security controls.

10) Communications: email, SMS, WhatsApp

We may contact you via email, SMS, and WhatsApp for:

  • Service communications (authentication, security, operational notices)

  • Product updates / campaigns (marketing)

  • Account and learning data: retained while your account is active, and as needed to provide the Service.

  • Logs/telemetry: may be retained up to 180 days where configured.

  • Deletion requests: If you request deletion, we currently process it by deactivating your account and taking reasonable steps to remove/stop processing your personal data, subject to legal/operational requirements.

We may retain limited records as needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and dispute handling.

12) Your rights (India)

Under the DPDP framework, you may request:

  • access to a summary of personal data being processed and who it’s shared with,

  • correction/updating and erasure (subject to lawful retention needs),

  • grievance redressal.

To exercise rights: email aniket@angira.ai with the subject “Privacy Request”.

13) Children / minors

The DPDP Act defines a “child” as an individual under 18. It requires verifiable parental consent for processing a child’s data and restricts tracking/behavioural monitoring and targeted advertising to children.

Angira is designed primarily for students. By using the Service, you represent that your parent/legal guardian has reviewed and consented to your use of Angira. If we receive a complaint or learn that appropriate consent is not available, we may suspend or restrict the account.

We do not sell personal data and we do not run targeted advertising directed at children.

14) Security and breach notifications

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. If a personal data breach occurs, DPDP requires notifying the regulator/board and affected users in the prescribed manner.

15) Cross-border transfers

Your data may be processed outside India depending on where our vendors operate and where infrastructure is configured. India may restrict transfers to certain countries by notification.

16) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date and, where appropriate, provide notice in-app or via email.
